This last Sunday, Pastor Mike preached on "How to Fight Right." As we handle our conflicts this week, let us not ignore our greatest resource –– Jesus Christ. There is no one who can help you deal with your conflicts like Jesus can. He specializes in bringing people together. He is the great Reconciler! Pray about your conflicts and see what God will do to help you. Paul wrote about this when addressing the church at Ephesus. The Ephesian congregation consisted of Jews and Gentiles who had put their faith in Jesus Christ. These two groups were very different in backgrounds and mindsets. There was potential for significant conflict between them. But Jesus’ power and grace brought them together in unity. Ephesians 2:14

On April 7th we got hear Alli Watson’s story. She has an inspiring story about how God took the biggest disaster in her life and made a message out of it. Ali’s story is very similar to Jacob’s story in the book of Genesis. God never ceases to amaze!
SATURDAY: Holy Saturday. The day after Good Friday. The day before Easter Sunday. The victory has been won and is currently at work...but it's still hidden. Hidden from us that believe and from those that do not. We do not yet see His overwhelming triumph over death, evil, and suffering in the world. But we will. So, we wait.
This has been an awesome Easter week here at HOTS! Great daily devotionals to inspire and encourage us and we are going to start Facebook Live streaming THIS Easter Sunday! Tell your out-of-town friends (or in-town friends!) they can now be part of our worship service by coming to this page Sunday mornings and watch live the entire service! It's been a long couple of weeks getting it all set-up and we are not done working out all the bugs, but we are excited for this next step in reaching others for Jesus!
FRIDAY: Why do they call it Good Friday? Jesus was led like a lamb to the slaughter. He was whipped and beaten. They slammed a crown of thorns onto His head. They clothed Him in purple and mocked Him. They spit in His face and punched Him. They whipped Him until He was barely recognizable. What Is good about that? It’s called Good Friday because even while powerful people were conspiring to kill the Son of God, God Himself was acting to save the world from itself. It's good when we realize how much God loves us. Its good when we believe that what He did, He did for us. It's good because it is not us on that cross. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him. Jesus took our place. It was our sin He was paying for. He died for us. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” A gift is not really ours until we accept it. Have you accepted God's great gift? Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” The joy before Him was having YOU with Him for all eternity. That’s good.
THURSDAY Thursday was the day before Jesus’ crucifixion. On this day, wanting some alone time with His friends, Jesus had His Last Supper with His disciples. Jesus did several things on Thursday, according Matthew 26:17-75. Jesus washed His disciple’s feet—a job the lowest of slaves dreaded doing. Jesus took a normal "Passover meal" and changed it forever. Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper. The elements of that first communion (bread & wine) symbolized what He was about to do. The bread, representing His body, would be pierced for our transgressions. The wine, representing His blood, would be shed in order to wash away our sin and establish a new covenant with Him. Later that night, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed so hard that blood droplets formed on His forehead. However, Jesus was all about doing the Father’s will—and, God’s will was to save us. Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane after a “friend” with clean feet and coins in his pocket, Judas, kissed Him on the cheek. Will you spend some alone time with Jesus today? Will you appreciate anew what God was willing to endure in order to save you? Will you do whatever you do in remembrance of Him?
WEDNESDAY: Something incredibly sad happened to Jesus on Wednesday. On Wednesday, one of Jesus’ friends, Judas Iscariot, agreed to betray Him (Matthew 26:14-16). Jesus was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver—the going rate for a slave. A friend sold him out! Have you ever had a close friend betray you? Jesus understands. What kind of friend are you? Are you sold out to Jesus or are you selling Him out?
TUESDAY As we shared yesterday, we are going to make each day's post leading up to Easter what Jesus was doing that particular day of Holy Week. Hoping to challenge you to think about Jesus and how your life is coinciding with His teaching: Tuesday was a busy day for Jesus. He preached and taught in Jerusalem from early morning till late at night. (Matthew 21-25). When the sun went down on Tuesday, His (public) earthly teaching was done. As dusk approached, Jesus taught three lessons—the parable of The Ten Virgins, the parable of The Talents, and a lesson of future judgement: The Sheep and the Goats. All three stories make the point that we ought to all be ready for His return. We have all been given a trust—one life in which to live. Whatever time we have, whatever gifts or abilities we have, we only have one life in which to invest them. How we spend our life matters. The One who gave us the gifts is coming back. If you knew this was your last day to teach some life-lessons what would teach? How are you investing your talent? Are you ready for His return?
The Final Week of Jesus Life As we shared yesterday, every day this week we are going to make each day's post about what Jesus was doing that particular day of Holy Week. On Monday Jesus drove the moneychangers out of the temple for making it a den of thieves instead of a house of prayer. (Matthew 21:12-17). It was the second time that Jesus did that. According to the Gospel of John, Jesus began His ministry flipping tables too. (John 2:14-22). What would Jesus overturn in your life? What do you find yourself doing again that He would disapprove of? How is your prayer life?
Starting tomorrow & leading up to Easter Sunday we are going to make each day's post about what Jesus was doing that particular day of Holy Week—the final week of Jesus’ life. One of the ways in which to measure the importance of something is to see how much the Bible has to say about it. Take for instance, Jesus' final week on earth. Matthew devotes 2/5 of his Gospel to the last week of Jesus' life. Mark gives 3/5 of his writing to the last week of His life. Luke gave 1/3 of his Gospel to the description of the Lord's final week. And get this, 1/2 of John's Gospel covers the last week of Jesus' life!! The emphasis that the Gospel writers placed on what we call “Holy Week” or “Passion Week.”--the week that we are in, is significant. Jesus had a lot to do before everything was FINISHED. It is worth your time to discover all that He did. ...after all, He did it for YOU. It's our prayer that this helps you think about Him and how your life coincides with His wishes for you.

We continue our “Stories 2.0” series with Pam. Her story is about winning over anxiety and depression, through God’s strength and finding victory in life. She has learned to thrive even though God said “No“ to her prayer request. The lesson we learned from her story is what to do “When God says, “No”.
